Part One of a Two-Part Series

I want to tell you about something extraordinary that’s happening. Something I’ve witnessed firsthand, something that’s now being validated by published, peer-reviewed science, and something that has fundamentally changed the way I understand what’s possible when human beings come together.

I’m a student of Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work and also a HeartMath coach, and for those of you unfamiliar with either of those worlds, what I’m about to share might stretch what you think is possible. But stay with me, because the research backs it up.

What is a Coherence Healing?

If you’ve attended one of Dr. Joe Dispenza’s week-long Advanced Retreats, you’ll know that the seven days are filled with teaching, many hours of meditation, breathwork, and transformative inner work. There are also three sessions towards the end of that week that are unlike anything else. They’re called coherence healings.

Here’s what happens: the entire group of 1500-2200 people split into smaller groups of 6-8 people (healers) and these individual form a circle/cage around 1 person who receives the healing (healee). These 6-8 people sit together with a single focussed intention to direct healing energy toward that individual. Typically the “healees” sit or lie in the centre while the rest of the group cultivates elevated emotions — love, gratitude, compassion, wholeness — and directs that coherent intention toward healing.

And here’s what’s crucial to understand: these are NOT trained monks. These are NOT lifelong meditators. These are NOT professional healers. These are ordinary people — teachers, accountants, doctors, nurses, lawyers, artists, parents, retirees, students — who have learned, through Dr. Joe’s methods, how to shift their brain and heart into a coherent state and sustain it collectively.

The healings that have been reported from these sessions are, frankly, remarkable, dare I say miraculous!! People with chronic conditions, autoimmune disorders, tumours, and other serious health challenges have reported significant, sometimes dramatic improvements. Dr. Joe’s research team has been documenting these outcomes with brain scans, blood work, saliva, stool and genetic markers for years.

But a new study has added a dimension to this picture that takes things to an entirely different level.

The Study: Small Groups, Global Impact

In 2025, a landmark study was published in EXPLORE: The Journal of Science & Healing by researchers affiliated with the Inner Science Research Institute. The study examined what happens to random number generators (RNGs)— devices designed to produce perfectly random electronic outputs — during Dr. Joe Dispenza’s events.

Random number generators are the scientific equivalent of a perfectly fair coin flip, happening thousands of times per second. Under normal conditions, they produce exactly what you’d expect: random noise. No patterns. No structure. Just chaos.

The researchers placed these devices at strategic locations and monitored them throughout several seven-day retreats, tracking the data against the event schedule.

What they found was striking.

The RNGs showed deviations from randomness at various points during the retreat — but the most significant deviations, by far, occurred during the coherence healings.

Just sit with that for a minute!

Out of all the meditations, all the breath-work, all the lectures, all the activities across seven full days, it was the three coherence healing sessions that produced the strongest measurable effect on these random devices. The moments when thousands of ordinary people came together with a shared, heart-centred intention to heal another human being were the moments when the physical world responded most powerfully!

The devices registered statistically significant deviations from randomness — order emerging from chaos — correlated precisely with the timing of these healings. When the group was in coherent healing intention, the devices deviated. When the sessions ended, they returned to random.

Why This Matters So Much

There are three things that make this study particularly extraordinary:

  1. These are ordinary people, not professional healers

The participants weren’t selected for psychic ability or decades of meditation/healing experience. They were everyday people who had learned a set of techniques — primarily from Dr. Joe’s teachings and, in many cases, supported by HeartMath coherence practices (more on this in Part Two) — that allowed them to enter and sustain a state of heart-brain coherence and elevated emotion.

This means the capacity to influence the field isn’t reserved for a special few. It’s available to anyone willing to learn and practice.

  1. The effect was strongest during collective intention, not individual meditation

The retreats involve many hours of individual meditation, and while the RNGs showed some activity during those periods, the peak effect was during the coherence healings — the sessions specifically designed around collective intention directed toward a shared purpose.

This tells us something profound about the amplifying power of group coherence. When hearts and minds come together in a unified field of intention and elevated emotion, the effect is not merely additive — it appears to be exponential.

  1. The effect was measurable on devices — not just in subjective reports

We’re not relying solely on people saying they felt something, or even on health outcomes (which, while powerful, can be attributed to placebo or other factors). The random number generators are objective, electronic, physical instruments with no capacity for belief, expectation, or placebo response. They either deviate from randomness or they don’t.

And during the coherence healings, they did!

This Isn’t The First Time Science Has Seen This

This recent study builds on decades of converging research from some of the most respected institutions in the world.

The Global Consciousness Project — Princeton University

From 1998 to 2015, Dr. Roger Nelson, a researcher from Princeton ran the Global Consciousness Project (GCP): a worldwide network of approximately 70 random number generators running continuously across every continent.

Over 15 years and more than 500 analysed events, the GCP found that during moments of intense shared human experience, events like September 11, the funeral of Princess Diana, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and coordinated global meditations, the RNGs showed statistically significant deviations from randomness.

The cumulative result across all events: odds against chance exceeding one trillion to one.

But here’s the critical distinction: the GCP was measuring the effects of spontaneous shared experience — millions of people reacting to the same event. What the 2025 coherence healing study shows is that a deliberate group of people, intentionally entering heart coherence together, can produce a similar measurable effect. You don’t need a global crisis. You need a group of committed people, an elevated emotion, and a shared intention.

The PEAR Lab — 28 Years at Princeton

Before the GCP, the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) lab, led by Dr. Robert Jahn, spent 28 years (1979–2007) demonstrating that human intention could produce small but statistically significant shifts in random event generators. Over millions of trials, the effect was consistent and replicable.

One finding is particularly relevant: the effect was amplified when emotionally bonded pairs focused together. This provided early evidence that collective coherence is more powerful than individual intention alone.

The Maharishi Effect Studies

The so-called “Maharishi Effect” studies, published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Conflict Resolution and Social Indicators Research, demonstrated that group meditation could measurably reduce crime, conflict, and violence in surrounding areas.

The most rigorous of these were a 1993 study in Washington D.C. that showed a 23.3% reduction in violent crime during a group meditation assembly, with a dose-response relationship (the effect grew as the group grew and faded as it dispersed) and statistical odds against chance of less than 2 in 1 billion.

A series of studies during the Lebanese civil war showed a 76% reduction in war deaths during periods when coherence groups were active.

What’s Really Happening Here?

Across all of these studies, separated by decades, conducted by independent research teams, using different methodologies, it moves me to see that the same pattern emerges:

When humans come together in a state of coherence — hearts open, emotions elevated, intention focused — something measurable shifts in the physical world around them.

Random systems become less random. Violence decreases. Healing accelerates. The field responds.

And the 2025 study tells us that the coherence healings at Dr. Joe Dispenza’s events — where thousands of ordinary people direct love and healing intention toward others — produce the strongest version of this effect yet measured.

This raises a question that I find both humbling and thrilling:

If a group of everyday people, practising techniques they’ve learned over days rather than decades, can measurably influence random devices around the world during a coherence healing… what else is possible?

What happens when we scale this? What happens when more people learn these skills? What happens when communities, cities, and nations begin to practice collective coherence — not as a philosophy, but as a measurable, practical technology of the heart?

Well, I for one, want to explore this further!!

Coming in Part Two: The Science of the Heart — And How You Can Access This

In Part Two of this series, I’ll take you deeper into the science behind why this works; including HeartMath Institute’s groundbreaking research on the heart’s electromagnetic field, the extraordinary relationship between human heart rhythms and the Earth’s own magnetic resonance, and what happens in your body when you enter a state of heart coherence.

I’ll also share how, as a HeartMath coach, I work with people to develop these capacities, not just for week-long retreats, but as a daily practice that transforms your health, your emotional wellbeing, your relationships, and your ability to contribute to the coherent field of the planet.

Because here’s what I’ve learned from both Dr. Joe’s work and HeartMath: the coherence healing isn’t just something that happens at an event. It’s something you can cultivate in your own heart, every single day. And when you do, you become a walking, breathing source of coherence in a world that desperately needs it.

TODAY is an important day!!

After 109 days and 2,300 miles, the monks are celebrating their final day in Washington, DC.

I truly hope that we are going to capture the data tonight as the world comes together to join Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara in a Loving-Kindness Meditation Session at George Washington University Smith Center. I would love to see the data from this global event. I also hope that you will all join in – I definitely plan to be there.

Part Two to follow in the next day or so, so stay tuned.
